Let's not ignore a permanent resident. This little boy was part of a litter a feral mom had at a house that was under renovation in Harpers Ferry. She had the litter outside on top of a clothes dryer. Friends that lived across the street started feeding the mom and contacted us for help. Before the kittens were old enough to wander off, we put them in a large carrier and enticed the mother to follow. Time passed. They were weaned. Spayed/Neutered and now ready for adoption. A wonderful woman came to the sanctuary in search of two kittens. She chose the pictured kitten and his brother. Within a few weeks she called us.
This boy had been sick. He had been to the vet's and stayed there while they tried to nurse him back to health. He wouldn't eat. He had intestinal issues and was put on medication. She was truly concerned about his welfare. "Bring him back." This appeared to be the only solution. So back he came. The adoptive mom was sad to bring him back to us but she felt she had exhausted all efforts to make him well. He just wouldn't eat. We accepted him with open arms. After she left we put him on the floor in the area he was familiar with. His furry family and friends were there to greet him. He passed them by and dove into the food bowl. Amazing. He is shy and it has taken a couple of years for him to accept humans but if you move slowly to him, he now speaks to you. He is a great conversationalist, telling you about his day. He's a Keeper.
Cause for Paws is a NON-PROFIT NO KILL Animal Shelter, if you love Keeper, Please take the time and Donate, every little bit helps. |
