Joy to the World...

JoyOn an average day, we receive at least 50 e-mails about animals in need of rescue.  One e-mail was a plea to save the life of a dog named Queenie.   Eight-months old and deaf. Destined for the gas chamber in Pulaski County, Virginia.   She was supposed to be a herding dog but without hearing she couldn't follow the commands.  To the man that had her, she was disposable.  She was useless to him.

What a beauty she is.  A red Australian Cattle Dog (ACD) with a mind of her own.  Having rescued another ACD a few years ago (who I belong to), gave me an idea of what I was in for.  A high energy, dominant dog that couldn't hear me.  Not just selective hearing.

Bringing Queenie (now Joy) to the sanctuary has been a learning experience for all of us - Joy included.  She has learned some signs and others she ignores - such as "no."   With TLC she has learned to trust and knows she is loved.  We don't have any animals to herd but that doesn't stop her.  She has a great imagination and continues to herd her own visions, barking and ordering them and to follow her directions.

She is a Joy to our world.

Cause for Paws is a NON-PROFIT NO KILL Animal Shelter, if you love Joy, Please take the time and Donate, every little bit helps.
